A comment on Bedsores Do Not Just Happen to "The Elderly"

Bed sores in my opinion are a form of neglect. The care giver or family member should be shift the person's body so that the pressure wound doesn't become inflamed. Skin breaks down after being in one spot over time. It's horrible and painful.

A comment on Delaying Until Death

The NY Times article last March highlighted two insurers that have had a large portion of the complaints in the long term care insurance industry. According to the Times, these two insurers have 29 times as many complaints (proportionately) as some of the leading long term care insurers. The leading long term care insurers average 1 complaint for every 10,000 policyholders.

The message of that article is NOT that the long term care insurance industry has failed. The long term care insurance industry, as a whole, has paid, and continues to pay, billions o

f dollars in long term care claims every year. Last year, over 180,000 people received benefits from their long term care insurance claims.

As with any insurance purchase, it's important to know the financial ratings of the insurer you choose and their claims paying ability.

Scott A.
